DIGITAL WINGLETS: CROSS-PLATFORM APP FOR COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFTS
The APiJET Smart Aircraft System uses existing or dedicated infrastructure to help airline companies save money by consuming less fuel. Along with a NASA-backed solution, APiJET offers an app that recommends more efficient routes to pilots.
Dev.Pro built cross-platform application that provides real-time data and analytics to commercial aircraft. The solution also offers pilots various optimization routes and calculates the amount of fuel and time savings.
DEV.PRO CONTRIBUTION
Dev.Pro was responsible for the entire product design and implementation process.
Dev.Pro engineers suggested using Xamarin because it was the best software for meeting client’s graphic needs. The team has created a proof of concept and submitted it to the client for approval.
There was developed a server emulator for creating custom flights and ensuring quality control.
Wind databases were integrated into the solution in order to deliver processing mechanisms that combine meteorological convention U and V wind components (eastward and northward winds).
The data exchange between an application and a server was executed through XML files and XSD schemas, which provided the ability to determine separate data messages among the bytes stream.
Each weather / wind / convection data feed refreshes with its own predefined frequency. This keeps them up to date and notifies the flight crew about changes via data indicators and system messages.
In order to control and visualize product quality, Dev.Pro provided test reports with unit / functional test coverage, bugs statistics, and requirements.
Random-access memory usage on a peak load is reduced by 15-20% compared with competitors.
To decrease central processing unit usage while zooming and sliding, Dev.Pro engineers used ‘deferred rendering’ approaches.
